philip

Philip White - Co Founder, Advisor
A native of South Carolina, Philip came to experimental electronic music after studying more traditional composition and jazz. Currently his work is based around a non-linear feedback system consisting of a mixer and several homemade objects upon which he improvises solo and in various ensembles. In addition to his work with analog electronics White has written prolifically for chamber ensembles and created a large body of intermedia pieces - including music, film, installations, interactive and web-based works —examining power structures and meaning in information transmission.

In 2008, Philip received his MFA from Mills College where he studied with Chris Brown, Hilda Parades and James Fei. His works have been shown in galleries across the US and in Germany. He currently performs with Suzanne Thorpe (thenumber46), Chuck Johnson (with chuck johnson with philip white) and Charity Chan (Cat on a Wire). Recent performances include The Stone (NYC), Sonic Circuits (DC), Redux New Media Festival (Charleston, SC) and Neurotitan (Berlin). Thenumber46’s forthcoming debut is being released in cassette format on Tape Drift Records. Philip also writes about music, contributing to the Wire magazine and SEAMUS Journal.

jessie Jessie Bower - Advisor
Jessie was raised by ghosts as a child in Alabama. After graduating from the College of Charleston with a degree in arts management and printmaking, Jessie has busied herself with careers in arts management, screen printing and baking. While not a composer/musician by trade, Jessie is real quick to jump on nerdy “office work” and/or handle the printing of our t-shirts.
