The New Music Collective organized its first multimedia event with "A Separate Reality". Participating artists included Jonathon Cheng, Shelby Davis, Kevin Hackler,Casey Kind, Nathan Koci, Tony Prete, Matt Smithson, Kevin Taylor and Philip White.

This event also included the premiere of Philip White's "Contractions" for voices and electronics. The performance of the piece took place in complete darkness, with audience surrounded by speakers on all sides, and a live choir above. Performers for "Contractions" are listed below.
