The NMC will be in residence at the John Cage Festival at Florida State University – curated by NMC artist Jason Brogan and David Kalhous – where they will participate in masterclasses, workshops, installations, and a special concert of music by Cage, Antoine Beuger, Michael Pisaro, Eva-Maria Houben, and Manfred Werder. Brogan will be joined by fellow NMC artists Sam Sfirri and Ron Wiltrout, and past NMC collaborators and visiting artists Nomi Epstein, Mark So, and Greg Stuart.Festival schedule

Friday, October 26:

Music by John Cage:
First Construction in Metal for percussion ensemble; Dream for violas; selections from Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano; 4’33” for choir and piano; selections from Freeman Etudes, Etudes Boreales, and Etudes Australes for violin, cello, and piano, respectively; Concert for Piano and Orchestra; Fontana Mix; and a new work for dance on Metamorphosis for piano

Sound installations:

Throughout the 26th and 27th, there will be installations of both Cage’s Empty Words (as arranged by Antoine Beuger) and Transparent City by Michael Pisaro. Separately, Mark So will perform his work Into Silence concomitantly with recent pieces for tape.
